Oh The Horror Review

The last few months have seen the review of some independent films here at OTH, and I'm back for another round with Hallow's Eve: Slaughter on Second Street, a no-frills slasher film from Verite Pictures. After checking out the trailer online, I was actually pretty excited to check this one out because I'm a sucker for all things slasher, and it looked like this one would deliver everything I'd expect from the sub-genre...Read More

Backwoods Horror Review

Alrighty, so, what did I think? Well, first of all, it's much MUCH better than that shitfest Stockholm Syndrome, but that doesn't really do it justice (because I could take a shit, film it, and put it out on DVD and that'd be a better film). The reason I bothered to put the two in the same sentence is that they're both examples of independent horror filmmaking...Read More

Indie Scares Review

When you read the synopis of the film, it sounds more or less like any other horror film that's set in a haunted house attraction. I'd even go out on a limb and say that if you took Funhouse or Dark Ride and mixed in a bit of Session 9 and House on Haunted Hill you've pretty much got Hallows Eve. Despite what it borrows from those other films (and a bit of a Scooby Doo in places) its still a fun film with enough gore and solid acting to keep you interested for its entirety....Read More
